RALPH & PATRICIA SARICH
NEUROSCIENCE RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Project Type

Laboratory

Location

Nedlands WA, Australia

A four-storey research laboratory designed to accommodate the Australian Neuromuscular Research Institute, the McCusker Alzheimers Research foundation, Ear Science Institute of Australia and the Surgical Neuro-Discovery Group.

Designed as the gateway building off Verdun Street, the digitally printed glass façade gestures to the neurological research focus of the occupying institutions.

The brief was an operationally efficient, cost effective, 8,000m2 research facility, with clinical facilities on the ground floor, PC2 laboratories on the upper three floors and cryogenic archival storage at plant room level.

The building design, while tailored to suit the immediate requirements has been developed to ensure that it can readily adapt to future changes in occupancy, research priorities and practices.
